The Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, General Bheki Cele has listened to concerns by the farming communities in Eskhala outside Mkhondo, during his visit to the area yesterday as part of the government Imbizo Focus Week for 2016. The Focus Week is an unmediated information-sharing platform between government and communities, with an aim to find ways to eradicate poverty and ensuring food security.

Gen Cele went to the area as part of a follow-up, after the farming community raised concerns and challenges during his visit to Saul Mkhizeville near Mkhondo in 2015.  Accompanied by DAFF DDG Dr Tau and Chief Mahlobo, Gen Cele also visited a few household to donate garden tools, and to encourage them to establish food gardens.  He also took time to visit a bed-ridden man who got injured while operating a tractor at the farm where he worked.
