More Schools take part in the Climate Change Literacy Programme

The Department has recognized schools in the province that are participating in Climate Change Literacy Programme, which is aimed at increasing environmental awareness in terms of Climate Change in schools. 

In 2016, a total of 191 Pre-schools took part in the Climate Change Programme for Water; 195 schools participated in the Climate Change Programme for Sustainable School Yard, while 187 schools participated in the Climate Change Programme for Secondary Schools.

All schools that participated in the 2016 Climate Change Programme were honoured, whilst best performing schools walked away with Green Jojo tanks, hot and cold water coolers, Plastic round super table Jolly Plus Basins, Plastic water drums with taps 20 & 10l, Tap lockers GALV Lever type & branded trophies, Packet of vegetable seeds, indigenous tree/shrub, Samsung smart cameras, refuse wheelie bins, flood lights, garden tools and trophies.
