  • CONTROL MEASURES PUT IN PLACE AFTER AN OUTBREAK OF AVIAN INFLUENZA IN MPUMALANGA

    The Mpumalanga Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, Land and Environmental Affairs has called on members of the public to report any high number of deaths of chickens to its local State Vet, Animal Health Technician or Extension Officers. This after samples collected from a farm in Villiers, on the banks of the Vaal River bordering the Free State, yielded positive results for a Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza, H5N8. The South African Veterinary Authority was notified about the high deaths of the flock in Villiers on 22 June 2017

    It is all systems go for the inaugural Mpumalanga Show come the 31st August 2017 at the Mbombela Stadium. The 4-day showpiece was officially launched by Premier DD Mabuza in Mbombela on 04 May 2017, and has been described by its organisers as an event that "will make things happen" for the province. In his address at the launch, the Premier pledged his government's full support to the Mpumalanga Show, adding that the future can only be brighter if government partners with the private sector in creating a healthy environment for businesses to thrive and flourish
